Mr. Ilan Bass is Director, Member Engagement and Programmes at the China-Britain Business Council in London. He has two decades' experience working in finance, government and international organisations across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Having lived for several years in mainland China, he communicates proficiently in Mandarin.
Ilan previously worked for BNY Mellon in London and for the UK Government in China. He also worked for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a multilateral development bank headquartered in Beijing, and was later based in Shanghai helping international companies develop their operations in the Chinese market.

Domenica is a highly experienced sales and marketing professional, with over 30 years’ experience spanning media-owner, client and agency roles. She has a long-established connection with the Chinese market, including 11 years’ experience in the Chinese digital industry, the last 9 as CEO of Emerging Comms. Domenica founded Emerging Comms in 2015 after recognising that western businesses needed far more than tactical marketing services to succeed in China, increasingly needing bespoke consultancy to succeed in the largest, but most competitive market in the world. It’s this consulting input that gives Emerging Comms clients exceptional results compared with going straight to tactics. Aside from leading the continued growth of Emerging Communications, she advises a number of trade and education bodies on their China market entry and subsequent digital strategies. Domenica is a regular keynote speaker at Chinese-focused events and is a regular contributor to media publications on all things China.
Joanna Zhou has been looking after Holland & Barrett’s business in China for more than 3 years in cross-border ecommerce model. Her knowledge of China and expertise in internationalization have steered the business to grow exponentially reaching substantial milestones. She has positioned the leading British health and wellness retailer to target the health-conscious young Chinese consumers.
Prior to Holland & Barrett, Joanna has worked in scotch whisky, tourism and technology industries in the UK helping British companies to expand their footprint in China. Prior to that, Joanna would call Singapore as her home for a decade where she developed global mindsets in the Asia Pac region. She often enjoys looking at business challenges from a societal and cultural context.
